The Gaze

THE GAZE delves into the complexity of representation and perception. Exploring the roles of the observer and the observed, it aspires to return ownership and agency to the female body. Inspired by Laura Mulvey’s essay "Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema" (1975), the project seeks to challenge traditional narratives that perpetuate the objectification of women and promote the male gaze. By capturing authentic moments of movement, beauty, and female sensuality and creating a space for contemplation – viewers encouraged to reflect upon social norms around female representation and reconsider notions of observation and self-perception, fostering critical internal dialogue and awareness.
